Sky Gallery opens in September

Sky Gallery is the first luxury shopping centre in Angola and it opens in September, a Portuguese-Angolan investment of over USD 50 million, which will include brands like Zegna, Gucci and Armani.

Until now Angolans needed to travel outside the country in order to acquire fashion and luxury products. But as of July, Sky Gallery will open its doors where brands such as Prada, Gucci, Zegna, Armani and Hugo Boss will have their own shops in Angola for the first time.

Four floors that connect three skyscrapers, 40 shops, 500 direct jobs and a commercial area with over 11 thousand square metres are some of the figures that shape this luxury development.

"Sky Gallery aims to provide an international shopping experience and is set in a premium housing complex, by the Portuguese architect Tomás Salgado, from the Risco studio. The project aims to be a benchmark in this sector not only in Angola, but across Africa", explains Rahim Ahmad, manager of the project which is owned by Mix Brand and whose shareholders are Interway Group, of which Rahim Ahmad is also a shareholder, and CBI-Crossborder Investments NV.

Rahim Ahmad expects that the various shops, its construction and adaptation of concepts, will generate over an additional 30 million dollars. Sky Gallery promises to set trends through unique and exclusive events. It will have five restaurants, a champagne bar, lounges, a gourmet supermarket (already in operation), and beauty services.

As for prices, it is expected that luxury goods will be on average 15% to 20% more expensive than in Europe, and about 15% to 20% cheaper than in destinations like Brazil or the Middle East, already taking into account Angolan customs fees that may be around 30% to 50% on luxury products.

According to Rahim Ahmad, the market research behind the decision to invest in Sky Gallery shows that Angolans are willing to pay up to 30% more than what they would pay in Europe, to purchase the products in their country.

Sky Gallery is part of the 'Sky Center' project, promoted by ESCOM, located on the Kinaxixi hilltop by Miramar, overlooking the famous Bay of Luanda, consisting of four of the tallest buildings, with eight floors below ground level and twenty-four above, supported by over a thousand parking spaces, reserved not only for residents, employees and customers, but also for the public in general with all safety and convenience.
